Pakistan is Underwater
Pakistan, a country in South Asia, has recently experienced significant flooding caused by a monsoon that created a large 100 kilometer (62 mile) wide inland lake. The area is around one-third of the country’s size which is also around the size of the U.S. state of Colorado. This flooding has been catastrophic to the Pakistani people living in the Sindh province where the flooding has concentrated causing 1,160 recorded deaths and displacing around 33 million people. Pakistan has reached out to the United Nations requesting $160 million in emergency aid. In addition, the United States has given $30 million worth of humanitarian aid.
