Bowling Match Against PRP Leads To a Loss

Senior Austin Hale bowling in the first bakers match. Nov. 10, Bullitt East lost against PRP with a score of 436-296, Chargers. “I feel that we played pretty well. I mean, PRP is a hard team to beat; they are probably the best in the state, and it’s going to take a lot of practice and consistency in our players to keep up with them. Some kids kept it real most of the time, but other kids lost their cool because they got frustrated, because bowling is a hard sport. It’s all mental,” Hale said.

A pleasure to win one of four matches against PRP.

After facing Pleasure Ridge Park (PRP) in a bowling match, PRP came out on top, but Bullitt East did win their first qualifying round match, which they were glad to have happened.

Nov. 10, the team played against PRP High School at Dixie Bowl. The team plans to improve over the course of the long season ahead.

They lost the game against PRP, with a score of 436-296 (pins).

In the first qualifying round for the baker’s match of the bowling match, senior Austin Hale had a game full of strikes and spares led the team with a 237, junior David Scholtz followed behind with a 172, senior Jackson Cox brought a 166 and junior Austin Graham brought a 168. Their combined scores gave them the win in the first round.

In the second qualifying round leading into the baker’s match of the bowling match, senior Austin Hale led the team with a 235, junior David Scholtz followed behind with a 167, junior Austin Graham brought a 131 and senior Zachary Compton brought a 104. The team lost their second qualifying round.

In the first baker’s match, Bullitt East lost with a score of 212-149. Then, Bullitt East lost in the second baker’s match with a score of 224-157.

Raley was disappointed by the Nov. 10 game after such a loss. “Well, the numbers say we didn’t do so hot after the first game. We came out and the main group did great. I mean, PRP is extremely talented; when you have eight guys who can bowl 200 at any time, and we only have maybe three. We’re up against it. So, I was very pleased that the first game we beat them, and then I guess that woke them up, because we just weren’t able to come back and do it again. Then in bakers, they just crushed us, but it is what it is,” Raley said.

Raley noticed a couple highlights from the PRP game, such as the bowlers’ Hale and Scholtz scores. “Well, anytime you can bowl 237 and 235 Hale). That’s pretty darn good. I think he (Hale) was the highest score all day. So, that was excellent. I mean, David Scholtz had said he wasn’t going to bowl this season and he made a change of his mind a week ago, and he did fine (172 and 167). He (Scholtz) is capable of 200’s, which is going to take him some time,” Raley said, “I don’t like losing at all, but we got a whole season to figure it out. We’ve upset them twice, two seasons in a row in the region, and so it can happen, but I think they’re definitely the best team in this whole area, and they might be the best team in the whole state right now.” Raley has hope that they can come back and win a game against PRP in the future of this season.

Hale believes they did alright, even though they lost, in the game against PRP. It’s all mental,” Hale said, “Some highlights would be beating PRP, the better team, in the first regular four person game. We beat them the first one, that’s probably a highlight that means that it can be done, but they just came back stronger. So, we got to do exactly the same.” Some of the highlights from the day, in Hale’s opinion, were his scores.

For the upcoming games, Raley plans to improve his team, by getting them to go to as many bowling alley’s as possible, here within the next few days. “Well, you just have to hope as a coach that every time they bowl, they learn something. We’re not going to have an opportunity to practice as a group before next week, and we have three matches next week, and two matches in a tournament. So, you hope between now and next Tuesday, they can get in a bowling alley somewhere, and work on it. Unfortunately, we just don’t have a team practice schedule. So it just didn’t work out that way, and we just got to use this to help us get better,” Raley said.

Hale plans to improve, by trying to go to a bowling alley here soon, for upcoming games. “For the next game, I plan on just hitting a bowling alley more, I’m going to the bowling alleys where our next matches are, getting more consistency, getting more tips from higher up people, and doing what needs to be done,” Hale said.

The next match will be a Jeffersontown game, at home (Fern Bowl), at 3:30 p.m., Nov. 16.
