Boys Soccer Wins Big on Senior Night
Senior night success.
Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021 the boys soccer team hosted their senior night to highlight their senior players followed by a varsity game against Iroquois. The team ended up with a win of 5-1. The win was a huge morale booster for the team since they were coming out of a tough week against some of the top teams in the state.
The win meant a lot to the players especially the seniors because it was senior night and they really wanted the win. “It’s always a great feeling to get a win on senior night but after the long week we had against some good teams it was nice to go out and get the win,” senior Tyler Mahoney said.
The team went into the game hungry for a win and they knew what they needed to do to get there. “The expectations were the same as every game, to come out there and give it everything we have to try and get the results we want,” senior Mason Carter said. They came out ready to play and scored early in the first quarter starting an early lead. Throughout the game they maintained their lead leaving little room for Iroquois to have a comeback.
The team really came together to put their best efforts into playing together as a team and winning the game. “Our defense played really well that game. They communicated and moved the ball in the back great,” junior Colin Elder said. Communication was a big issue for the team in the early season but the boys have worked hard to improve their communication and it is paying off in the end.
Even with all the ups and downs this season has had the boys still have high hopes and expectations for the rest of this season and postseason.
