Boys Golf Begins Preparing for Upcoming Regionals
Regionals are only two weeks away and the boys golf team is working hard to prepare.
Boys Golf had three tournaments Sept. 15, 17, and 19 helping them prepare for the upcoming regionals Sept. 28.
So far, this season has gone smoothly for the team with very little changes. Even with the difficulties of COVID-19, most of the tournaments have gone like they were supposed to. The team has been busy preparing for regionals by practicing at home and attending tournaments leading up to the date.
All of the past tournaments for this season have gone well but it’s definitely been different. “Everyone still has a good spirit this year, “ said Coach Kyle Downs. The season was able to start on time for the team with only very little changes that didn’t affect anything majorly. The biggest thing that was changed was that they could no longer do overnights.
Last season, the farthest they had gone to was Gatlinburg while this year the farthest place they have been so far had been Bardstown for a tournament. Other than the little changes to the locations, the team has been able to keep the same schedule and practice locations. “For practices, the players had to do more on their own but nothing else was affected,” said Downs about the changes happen from COVID-19.
There are three more upcoming tournaments before the team heads off to regionals Sept. 28. The team is excited to see old friends again but mostly excited to see how they do. “Our regionals is on Sept. 28, so we are hoping Kyle Schuler and Thomas Bryan will make it this year. Hopefully, one or two kids qualify for the state tournament and go to Bowling Green to see some people,” said Downs about regionals.
