Boy’s Soccer Weekly Recap

The varsity and junior varsity boys had a game on Tuesday night, both against Iroquois. By the half, the score was 3-1, Iroquois. The first goal was made by senior Evan Wright.  Coach Michael Brangers received a yellow card for yelling at the ref and Iroquois also earns themselves five yellow cards. Wright made a penalty kick, bringing the score to 3-2, Iroquois. Wright scores one last time tying the game. Senior Samuel Brangers takes a shot but disappointing to the crowd, it is called offsides. The end score was 3-3.  Brangers and Wright both agreed that they played a bit slow in the beginning but overall played well.

The JV game was also another win for the chargers with a score of 6-3.

Thursday night, the varsity team played against Nelson County at Nelson County. The end score was 2-1, East. “The game was a very fast and physical game. It was back and forth and neither team could get enough momentum to score. Until finally we got through and got two goals,” said senior Zak Perdew. Perdew scored both goals for the chargers. He felt that they played pretty well but also mentioned that they have a good amount of people out. 

Senior Devon Newton and Wright are now both injured and Evan Ekubundit and senior Garret Anderson have been suspended. Ekubundit will be able to come back shortly but Anderson is out until further notice. Freshman Gabe Brangers will be goalie in Anderson’s absence.

The boys’ next two games are on Monday and Wednesday this week at 5:30 p.m, both at home.
