Girls Golf State Tournament Recap
By the swing of a golf club, this year girls golf season is now over.
After the two month long season, this year’s girl golf season has come to a close.
Eighth-grader, Macie Brown placed twelfth in the state tournament that took place on October 1-3. Throughout the season Brown has placed very well in matches which proved that she has the skills to continue to be on the golf team next year as a freshman. Leading up to the tournament she was the only one out of her team who advanced for the state tournament.
After preparing for the state tournament for two months Brown got the opportunity to be the only one of her team to advance to the tournament. During the first half of the tournament on Tuesday Brown scored an 82, then on Wednesday, she shot a 77. These scores may not have been her lowest throughout the season but she did place 12 out of 156.
Brown has proved that just because she is an eighth grader she still possesses the same skills as the high schoolers on the team. She has placed several times in matches that have happened this season, at the Bluegrass Invitational on Aug. 26, Brown placed 11 out of 102 with a score of 77.
The match that could advance players for the state tournament was the Regionals in Elizabethtown Country Club. Brown was the only one who qualified for state at this match as she scored an 82 which tied her for third as well.
