Administrators and Faculty Notify the School Regarding a Potential Threat
Better safe than sorry.
After a possible threat against the school was brought to the eyes of the administration at Bullitt East, they were fast to control the situation.
A potentially threatening post made by a student on social media brought up a bit of concern. To inform the students, staff and teachers of said incident, the administration sent out an email and phone call addressing the situation and to assure the safety of the students. While the post was concerning at first, administration made sure to inform Bullitt East that it posed no true threat.
The staff dealt with the incident by taking the student into custody and following the Bullitt County Code of Conduct. Also, law enforcement was placed at the school throughout the day to reassure the Bullitt East community of their safety. “School officials have investigated the postings and have confirmed there is no threat to safety of the school and our students,” said freshman principal, Kari Stewart in her email to the community.
Many staff members and students didn’t feel at risk. “I never felt in danger. I’m not worried and never was worried. I just hope we can help students make better decisions as far as what they post,” said Stewart.
After this incident, parents are encouraged to talk to their children about their use of all social media.
