NFL Playoffs 2018

The NFL Playoffs kick off soon.

The NFL season has come to a close, and it was a surprising one, to say the least.

The NFL playoffs start this weekend.

The NFL playoffs are set after the final games have concluded after Week 17. The season didn’t go as many people had predicted, with the rise of the Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans who were all predicted to have a sub .500 record with no shot at the playoffs. Then there was the fall of teams such as the New York Giants, Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys who all disappointed and missed the playoffs. Clay Prechtel, a Cincinnati Bengals fan, was disappointed with his team’s performance this season. “We played like complete garbage (this season),” said Prechtel. Whether you blame injuries or just bad play, twenty NFL team’s seasons have concluded.

For the twelve teams to make it to the big stage, here’s how they fall into place: the Buffalo Bills make the cut for the first time since 1999 they’ll face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars in their wild-card game. The other games include Tennessee vs the Kansas City Chiefs, the Carolina Panthers vs the New Orleans Saints and the Los Angeles Rams and the Atlanta Falcons will conclude the wild card games. The New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings all earned first-round byes and will play the winners of each of the wild-card games.

As far as picks go for Super Bowl LII, Vegas has the projected matchup as the Patriots (+240) and the Vikings (+375) with the Pats being picked to hoist the trophy. After those two the next up picked are the Steelers (+475), then a three-way tie at (+1000) with the Saints, Rams, and Eagles respectively. As far as long shots go, you can find those with the Titans (+7,500) and the Bills (+15,000), but who doesn’t love an underdog?

Some students stated their picks to win it all. “I think the Rams have a good chance,” said Luke Roby. “They have a good run game and a good defense. I think they could pull it off,” Clay Prechtel went for the longshot, “I’d like to see an upset. I’m rooting for the Bills.” “The Steelers, they have an excellent offense with a lot of weapons and their defense is decent,” said Cambron Quarles.

Josh Bynum-Cook stated, “The Patriots, they have the greatest quarterback of all time (Tom Brady), that’s all that needs to be said.”

Adam Moore said, “The Saints. Drew ‘Breesus’ (Brees) can take them to the top.”

The wild card games start this Saturday the sixth. The Super Bowl will be on February 18.
