Trick or Treat at East

Parents and children walk down the halls while attending Halloween in the Halls.

The halls at East are full of treats.

Bullitt East is hosting the annual Halloween in the Halls on Thursday, Oct. 26.

The students and staff spend their limited time and hard work preparing for an eventful night. This event lasts three hours and puts many smiles on childrens’ faces. Bullitt East always attracts a huge crowd on this night.

Halloween in the Halls is organized by hallways, each hallway represents a “house”. In the past, houses were separated into groups of students that chose which house they wanted to be in based on the houses’ colors, motto and service projects. This year is quite different; houses are now based upon grade levels. There are only four houses, so each house will have to cover a larger part of the school.

“It’s been a lot of work mostly because we have a much bigger space to cover and still about the same amount of students who will stay and help. I think it has been harder for me, but I haven’t really been in charge of it in years past,” said Madelyn Mann, junior headmaster. Mann is ready to take on this fun-filled night.

Needless to say, the students and staff are very stressed this year since they have more to cover. But like usual, they always find a way to get things done and have a successful night for the children.

The idea of moving to a four house system may impact students. “The decision to move to a four house system was made because of student voice. I believe that if we are doing what the students are wanting, then this will drum up more support, motivation and engagement. After all, we do houses for the students” said Amanda Bohnert, freshman headmaster.

Students already feel that there might be a change in student involvement due to the change in houses. “I like the new change, I feel like it will get more students involved because you have more of your friends with you,” said Allison Thompson, junior.

This event has always been something students look forward too. “I’ve always loved Halloween in the Halls and I’ve always loved working it so I’m glad it’s been a part of my highschool experience,” said Cori Etherton, senior.

Hopefully, the new house system will bring children into the school to see what it is like and to see the difference it will make.
