Rapper and actor Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr, also known as Snoop Dogg held a concert at The Palace theatre Monday night while wearing a number eight Lamar Jackson jersey.
Jackson has been in the spotlight lately after winning the 2016 Heisman Trophy last month. Broadus sang some of his hit songs in front of thousands of fans. Twitter blew up after people saw him wearing the Cardinal jersey.
The city of Louisville has been partying ever since the Louisville quarterback won the Heisman. Jackson was the first player from the University of Louisville to win this highly prestigious award. Broadus rocked the stage wearing the number eight jersey and the fans loved it. Even the Heisman Trophy winner noticed him as he posted a picture of Broadus wearing his jersey on Instagram with the caption “Salute @snoopdogg 100 100.”
Broadus is a well known fan and supporter of football. His son Cordelle Braudus played high school football at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas and played college football at UCLA as a wide receiver. Broadus was always by his side supporting his son. There was even a show called Snoop & Son about his son’s football career and their close relationship due to football. Broadus has also been a long time Pittsburgh Steelers fan and founded his own youth football league in his home state of California.
The picture of him wearing the Louisville jersey blew up social media with people comparing him to Drake wearing University of Kentucky gear. Louisville fans like junior Ryan Gaddie quickly took sides saying Snoop Dogg was the original rap star and many Cardinal faithfuls were excited and happy he supported the Cardinals. “I think it shows that Louisville has more than just its hometown people cheering them on. It also shows that Lamar brings more publicity to Louisville from the win,” said Gaddie.
Rapper and hip hop artist Drake has been a UK supporter for years and can be seen at games or in the UK locker room with the team. “Snoop is way better,” said Gaddie.
