It’s the beginning of the end at Bullitt East.

With the Board of Education issuing Chromebooks to all Bullitt County High Schools, East is becoming paperless.

Google classroom has altered the students and their work tremendously. Most students have mixed feelings about whether they’d rather work with paper and pencil than working on a computer. Also, keeping up with your work is simple and easy.

Google classroom is a program that allows teachers to assign their work online. Now instead of the teacher directly giving the student a paper assignment, they post an assignment to google classroom for the students to click on and complete. Google classroom has changed the way students do their work. Sophomore Kemper Barr says, “It has made it a lot easier to remember things. The teacher always has an assignment on there so I won’t forget to do my homework.”

“Google classroom has changed this school year because teacher usually attach the assignment that was being worked on in class. Also we have more freedom on when and where we do our classwork. Because you can do it anytime on your computer,” says fellow sophomore Savannah Kruse. Chromebooks have made differences in good ways, it makes it easy to remember assignments and it has made it easier to get your work done.

With all of the differences of working with paper and pencil and working completely digitally, most students have mixed feelings about which they would rather use. “I have mixed feelings about it. Taking notes on paper really helps me remember but having the internet always makes it easier to access things, except when my Chromebook doesn’t work,” says Barr.

“I don’t like how everything we do is on technology. I like doing things on paper a lot better because my Chromebook doesn’t work a lot of the time,” says Kruse.

All of the school work is now online and in the same place. When asked if it’s hard to keep up with your school work, Kemper Barr says, “It is sometimes because the Chromebooks mess up, but mostly it’s easy since Google drive automatically saves everything.”

“It’s not difficult to keep up with the work, it’s difficult when the Chromebooks aren’t working,” says Kruse.

The Chromebooks make it easy to keep up with your work, but occasionally they stop working which makes it difficult to work your assignments.
