Wildcats in the house, everybody say it loud.
As the NCAA National Championship, otherwise known as March Madness, starts this Sunday the 16th. How does one of Kentucky’s most beloved teams stack up.
UK has been in a powerhouse in the NCAA since inception winning 8 March Madness tournaments since the teams creation in 1903. Coach Adolph Rupp first brought Kentucky to national prominence, winning four NCAA titles. Since then, Joe B. Hall, Rick Pitino, Tubby Smith, and John Calipari each won a national championship, making Kentucky the only school with five coaches to win NCAA championships and placing it second only to UCLA for most titles.
This year the Wildcats have been ranked 19th in the nation by a poll ran by the Associated Press, as well as 17th by ESPN.
68 teams make it into the Championship each year, the selection is finalized on “Selection Sunday” March 16th. Kentucky is sitting at 40-1 odds according to ESPN Bracketologists and is speculated to be a three seed.
The 2025 Championship will be the teams first with Mark Pope as head coach who took the role from the Legendary John Calipari in April of 2024.
Some player to watch this season are, Otega Oweh with an average of 16.2 points a game and Amari Williams with an average 8.5 rebounds per game.
My personal prediction is that the Wildcats will make it into the tournament but lose to Michigan St. in the Sweet Sixteen.
