The Popelick monster is depicted as a goat-like creature with a humanoid build. It is covered in hair and has a goat head. The Popelick monster lives in the city of Popelick Kentucky, specifically the pope lick bridge. A common misconception is that the popelick bridge is no longer in use. The pope lick bridge is still fully operational and trains cross it often. The origin of the creature is not clear. Depending on who you ask the legend will vary.
The story of the Popelick monster is relatively new to the modern world, first accounts of the creature go back to the 60’s. Although there have been no known sightings of the creature, the Popelick monster is well known throughout Kentucky and and popular among all of America.
One of the more common origins of the creature describes a tale of a devil worshiper. The man sacrificed goats in the devil’s name for power and was cursed to live as a human goat hybrid. Another popular legend of the creature’s origin paints the creature as an escaped circus freak, who swore vengeance on those who mistreated him. Of course we can’t confirm any of this but it’s interesting to see just how many different origins one creature can have.
Something interesting is that despite the differences, two things remain the same. One, obviously, the creature’s appearance. The second one is the creature’s motive. Whether it be revenge or just general blood lust, the pope lick monster is alway depicted as trying to hurt people. However the way in which he hurts people is often different.
Depending on the tale, the creature will also have a variety of powers and methods to his madness. Usually the popelick monster is thought to possess the ability to mimic human voices, usually mimicking his victim’s cries for help. He will mimic these sounds to lure people up to the tracks, where if the monster succeeds, will end with the lured individual being hit by an incoming train.
There are other mentions of what the creature does. The monster is also often said to jump down onto cars passing under the bridge to crush people. But sometimes, the popelick monster is a weird looking guy with an axe.
It is important to remember that this creature has never been found, your own safety is above the thrill of possibly finding the monster. There have been several accounts of people exploring the Pope Lick bridge and not returning. It’s important that if you go cryptid hunting be aware of your surroundings and do not enter any areas that are restricted.

Goatman has fled since his area is now too built up and congested with traffic.
