This Boys Golf season was right on par.
With a passion and a dream, our Bullitt East golfers have had an amazing season. They have not only shot well but also made memories of their own. Golf may be considered an individual sport, but these boys are a team.
The Bullitt East golf team made it to regionals this year, and five boys competed at Quail Chase golf course on September Twenty-third. The team not only shot well but also had a blast. They were quite proud of themselves for it and got second place overall. Not to mention, they got sixth place in the semi-state. They notably got to go to Cincinnati, Ohio to play as well.
“I did even better than what I thought this year. I was just hoping to make the top 10 but I made top 5 and when I went to region I definitely did better than I hoped this season,” said Sophomore CJ Campbell.
The boys notably believe they did really well together and not only as a team but also individually. It’s nice to see players play well and be able to recognize how great they did. It’s clear to see that they have put their all into playing this season. “I am very proud of my score because I feel like I kept myself calm and collected but also channeled my nervousness into something that would benefit me,” said Junior Issac Lewis.
It seems as though the average best this season was shooting between 70 and 80. While the players as previously mentioned were proud of themselves, it’s no shock that they would want to better themselves. In any sport, it is your goal to become better and grow over the time that you play. “The best that I scored was a 77. I felt pretty good about it but I shot that score 4 times so I would have liked to do better one of those times,” said Sophomore Sam Bates.
It’s also worth mentioning the amazing coach these golfers had- Kyle Downs. He is the coach for the boys and girls golf team, and all of the players this season respect him heavily. They all respect the man so much and are so grateful to have him as a coach. “He not only coaches boys golf but takes the girls’ team under his shoulder. With the amount of kids our team has, it truly is impressive how much Mr. Downs does for us so please highlight him and the team aspect,” said Issac Lewis.
