Fashion used to cost an arm and a leg until online websites made it more affordable. Practically anything is available for purchase on these sites, but their main selling point is cheap clothing. Most items aren’t the best quality, but there’s an easy way to avoid buying something not worth it.

The main online retailers people choose are Temu, Shein, AliExpress, and others. These websites primarily sell cheap clothing. However, these items are inexpensive for a reason. Almost every article of clothing on these sites is made of polyester, which is extremely cheap to produce. People apparently overlook these issues because of the price.

“Sometimes you get it, and it just doesn’t fit right or breaks immediately, but it’s to be expected for the price,” English teacher Amanda Joseph said.

Online retailers have made the world of fast fashion much more accessible because they offer new clothes for cheap. If you ask around, it’s almost guaranteed that someone you know has bought from these websites or considered buying from them. These stores are so universally used and popular that they don’t just sell clothes or cheap trinkets anymore.

“No, I don’t just buy clothes. I have bought so many other things like a phone case, a charger, some low-quality skin care, fake shiny jewelry, and clothes, of course,” sophomore Holly Nichols said.

However, some of these clothes and items can fall apart with just a look, or they can arrive damaged or unpleasant. They could be the wrong size for you, or they could have a weird smell. These are things you don’t want when buying clothing, which is why it’s crucial to check the reviews before purchasing anything from these sites. Some people order products without reading the reviews, and the items turn out nothing like the pictures or what they expected.

“Apparently, I didn’t read the reviews because the slit on the side went up to my armpit,” teacher Samantha Keating said.

While these websites are cheap and easy to use, there can be some problems with them. It’s not just the quality that’s bad; the prices also vary depending on what account you’re using. If you spend more, things may be cheaper, or if you’re a first-time user, prices may differ. Checking for issues before buying from these websites is recommended.
