Haeliegh Cook knew the lights of JCPS weren’t for her and headed for Bullitt County
Cook is one of Bullitt East’s newest Social Studies teachers who came from JCPS after realizing it wasn’t where she belonged.
“ I was teaching middle school and decided I just wasn’t happy.” Cook said
After Cook made her decision to leave JCPS she saw a Social Studies position open at Bullitt East, she applied and she quickly got the job.
Cook’s situation is more unique then some of the other new teachers due to her starting halfway through last school year. Starting in February, instead of the typical August posed some unique challenges.
Cook attributes her successful integration into BE to her fellow Social Studies teachers who coached her through it. “ There’s some great teachers here like Mrs.Akridge, Mrs. Grubenhoff, Mrs. Perugini, and Mrs. Beck showed me the ropes.” Cook said.
Despite the setbacks Cook considers the first few days a success and is looking forward to the rest of the school year to really make her mark on BE.
