Coming back to Bullitt East relieved her “homesick” feeling
Dana Steinmetz returns to Bullitt East as a new counselor.
Steinmetz initially started at East as an English teacher for 10 years and then became a counselor for another 14 years before heading off to MALE High school. “I really liked the students there, it just wasn’t home.” said Steinmetz.
Steinmetz is back in the Bullitt East community with her husband Larry Steinmetz, the BE Media arts teacher. Seeing the same person everyday at home and at school could be challenging for some couples however for Steinmetz she likes being a part of the community with her husband again. Yes they are all the way across the school from each other but she claims that she loves it and it’s nice to have that in common.
Steinmetz graduated from University of Kentucky and then got a masters degree at Western Kentucky University. Her passion for counseling comes from helping people. “When I feel like Im a students trusted adult and they don’t necessarily feel comfortable anywhere else, i love to know that my students feel like they can be their 100% complete self here with me you know and they can talk to me without me judging them, so whenever I feel like i’ve done that for a kid you know and um help them with a problem because their were able to trust me that’s just the best feeling” says Steinmetz.
In Steinmetz’s free time she likes to exercise like running, lifting weights and reading. She also loves her family time with her husband and two kids that have graduated so it’s her favorite when everyone is sitting all together.
The charger nation is very excited to have Steinmetz back!
