Allan South has been a teacher for several years and made the decision to join Bullitt East High School this year. But what made him want to start teaching in the first place? “I had a teacher in high school, Jim Grant, that always put his students’ needs above his own; Mr. Grant took tons of time to get to know us and to be a positive influence in our lives. He was a light to me and motivated me to be that same mentor to others.” South said. It’s always great to know that our school is getting teachers that want to help students as much as they possibly can, and on top of that be able to be an influence to others. “I have lived in Mt. Washington for a long time and wanted to be a part of the Bullitt East community and in the future my children will come here so I am excited to be where they are.” South Said.
“This year I am teaching World Civilizations for the first time in several years.” South Said. Since he has to teach a topic different from what he has been teaching in a completely new school, he has done many things to prepare for the school year. “I am going through my resources and updating and modifying them for 2024. I have also spent time walking around the building in an effort to learn my way around.” South said.
Although South is new here, he is overly optimistic about his future at Bullitt East. “I’m looking forward to getting to know my students and being a part of their high school experience. I also look forward to getting to know the staff better, so far everyone seems wonderful.”
“It was fantastic ,Hectic, but fantastic” South said, in regards to his first day of school, showing how all his adapting and preparation paid off and led to his great first experience at Bullitt East.
