New school, new grade, new adventures and opportunities to explore.
Mackenzie Robinson has joined first hall as an ECE teacher.
Robinson comes from Pleasant Grove Elementary, where she taught students grades third through fifth for three years. This will be her fourth year teaching and being in the classroom. In addition to teaching, she will also be coaching softball for Bullitt East.
She went to college at Centre, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2018. She then got her Master’s in 2021 at Capella University, specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis. She also got her Master’s of Arts in Special Education in 2023 at Campbellsville University.
Prior to teaching, she spent two years working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum and other developmental disabilities and assisted them in developing their social skills they need to be successful in a clinical setting.
While she loved working with elementary students, Robinson wanted a challenge.
“While I loved my position at Pleasant Grove, I really wanted to work with students at the high school level. You all are at such an important and formative stage of your lives and you all start to become adults. I remember it, and I remember the teachers and mentors who made such important impacts on me. I love being able to be a part of your journey as you become the amazing young adults you all are becoming”, Robinson said.
Coming into Bullitt East, Robinson immediately noticed the culture and legacy that has been through everyone since the very beginning.
“I was immediately struck by the value ‘unrivaled’. The expectation to be the best and that requires hard work, persistence, resilience and tenacity. I love the pride we take in our school and the impact of our school on the community. There really is nothing like it!”, Robinson said.
With her job, Robinson loves how things are always changing, even though it can be chaotic at times. She’s built tons of relationships throughout the different grades/schools she taught at, which has made the process rewarding because of the constant change in events. When she goes through certain challenges and struggles, she has stuck by the mindset of there is not only one way to learn and it can be fun.
“I’ve worked with so many students, teachers and subjects, and it is such a challenging, but rewarding process to approach these things differently and with a different lens, based on who/what you are working with. There is not only one way to ‘learn’ things and learning can be fun! This mindset is what helped me as I went through my own challenges in learning”, Robinson said.
Going into the new school year, Robinson is proud to be a Charger and eager for all the new adventures to come.
