Another bookworm has been welcomed into Bullitt East.
Megan Tooley has joined third hall as an English teacher.
Tooley moved over to Bullitt East after eight years at Pleasure Ridge Park High School in JCPS. Tooley graduated with a Creative Writing degree and several English degrees. Being a new teacher at Bullitt East is a brand new start for her to be excited about.
Moving from Pleasure Ridge Park High School to Bullitt East has been a big transition for Tooley, so to keep her mind entertained or just to escape reality once in a while she likes to read. “I like reading things that are full of chaos, they make me happy,” Tooley said.
Tooley’s passion for English makes it enjoyable for her since it’s one of her happy places. “English is just a really important thing in my life,” Tooley said. Tooley’s passion for English can help and motivate the children that she has been placed with.
“It is very clear that the environment here is leaps and bounds better than anything I’ve ever been involved with before. It’s very clear that the administration supports students and staff here in a way that is just not prevalent everywhere else,” Tooley said.
Tooley’s hands have been full with juggling a family at home with her husband, fourteen year old daughter and her ten year old dog who she claims to be her other child. Alongside with making new friends with the staff at Bullitt East and hundreds of freshman and sophomores, she’ll be teaching her first year in BCPS.
Being filled with lots of passion for teaching, it comes as no surprise that Tooley wants to have connections with not only the staff at Bullitt East but also with the students. “I want to feel like I have found my place here. Where I’m coming from my last school I was there for eight years and I felt like I really understood where I fit in there and I want to figure out how I fit in here. But just really building my relationships here both with students and staff will be one of my top goals,” Tooley said.
