Track is still out-running us all.
The track team has some new meets coming up, which the team feels very confident about so far. Everyone’s dedication this season is starting to pay off.
As of now, the track team has some new hurdles to face. Their home race was canceled due to the bad and rainy weather. Even though meets getting canceled because of rain is normal, this does bring up an important fact about the team’s field; it’s in horrible condition. “It has mostly to do with the fact that our home field is in really bad shape. Whenever it rains, it just messes everything up. It gets flooded very easily and you can’t walk on it,” sophomore Makayla Meyer said. The rain can heavily damage the track field, making it muddy and hard to walk through. The team hopes to have a better field to practice in for the future. An improved place to practice would be exceptionally helpful for Bullitt East.
Despite the home meet getting canceled and the field being in horrible condition, there have been some positive highlights for the team. Senior night was a huge success, with the boy’s and girl’s teams defeating Bullitt Central by a landslide victory. This was a huge confidence boost for the team. As the county meet reaches closer, the team plans to use this confidence boost towards winning against all teams in the county. Meyer shared her confidence when she was asked about the county meet coming up. “I mean, we should do pretty good in this meet. It’s only all the counties in this area and we usually do good at this meet anyway,” Meyer said.
