A long but rewarding day.
The dance team placed fourth at region in pom and sixth in game day, they will advance to state in pom.
The competition was held at Henderson County High School. They were scheduled to perform at 5:15 p.m. in pom, yet didn’t perform until around nine p.m. This led to the team being exhausted and not being able to perform at their best. “Because we were performing so late and it was such a long day we definitely didn’t perform at our best, but I’m still incredibly proud of myself and the team for how we did,” said senior Samantha Gourd.
“One thing we definitely need to work on for next time is being sharper, that’s why we weren’t able to score as high as we wanted to,” said Gourd. Pom performances require quick, sharp movements during their performance, and the exhaustion didn’t help the team perfect their movements.
Even though they had a long day, the team was able to stay positive and coach Jodi Osborne thought that they were going to be able to make it to the state competition, which was a huge positive influence for the girls. They had a long and exhausting day but still managed to encourage each other and give each other feedback during practice runs of their routine.
The team hasn’t gone to state for the past three years, although they did win state in 2018. Going to state is a new experience for everyone on the team, and they are excited. A few team members have danced in studios and competed, but never for the Bullitt East team. Even dancers who have been to, and placed at national competitions are excited for the trip to state.
The team will compete in Lexington KY. on Dec. 10.
